This April, GPC is supporting the #OCRF #whiteshirtcampaign in order to raise awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer research.

Being aware of ovarian cancer is not enough to save a life. Early screening is needed, and can only be achieved through funded research. Everyone can help by either buying a white shirt from Witchery (all funds go directly to the OCRF to help research) or alternatively you can donate on our funding raising page directly and this money goes to OCRF.

The facts:

  • Over 50% of the community incorrectly believe a pap smear can diagnose ovarian cancer. There is NO early detection test.
  • When detected and treated early 80-90% of women will survive beyond five years compared with only 20-30% when diagnosed at a late stage.
  • Early stages of ovarian cancer often have no obvious symptoms which means most women are diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease.
  • There is no early detection test. Research is required to find an early diagnostic test.
  • One woman dies every 10 hours from Ovarian Cancer in Australia.
