Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day. GPC wants to create awareness about Ovarian Cancer.
The facts:
- Over 50% of the community incorrectly believe a pap smear can diagnose ovarian cancer. There is NO early detection test.
- When detected and treated early 80-90% of women will survive beyond five years compared with only 20-30% when diagnosed at a late stage.
- Early stages of ovarian cancer often have no obvious symptoms which means most women are diagnosed in the advanced stages of the disease.
- One woman dies every 10 hours from Ovarian Cancer in Australia.
- There is no early detection test. Research is required to find an early diagnostic test.
Being aware of ovarian cancer is not enough to save a life. Early screening is needed, and can only be achieved by finding an early detection test. Everyone can help by either buying a white shirt from Witchery (all funds go directly to the OCRF to help research) or alternatively you can donate directly through the OCRF website.
#Ovariancancerresearchfoundation #whiteshirtcampaign in order to raise awareness and funds for Ovarian Cancer research.
