Today marks the start of Asthma Week (1-7 September), a national awareness raising week for 2.7 million Australians living with the chronic respiratory condition.
This year, Asthma Australia is highlighting the role stigma is having on the lives of adults with asthma.
Research shows the level of stigma felt by a person has a direct impact on how well they may manage their asthma leading to burden of disease.
This year’s Asthma Week campaign is ‘Let’s remove the stigma from asthma. What you think matters.’
